The Spot is a non profit organization and was established in 1999 to meet a community need to give young people a safe place to and have fun after school. Since that time we have been open and flexible in making changes to continue to support the "Youth of Live Oak" with programs like: Girls on the Run, Character Value School Assemblies, hosting the City of Live Oak basketball practice, Youth Development as part of "Reach", partnering with Sutter-Yuba Mental Health and Pathways on "No Drugs" projects. We have also partnered with The City of Live Oak and together we have built a Community Garden. We have an Art Docent program for both the ElementarySchools and numerous Summer Programs that enriched young people in hopes to spark their own passion and talent. We are currently establishing a Youth Art Advisory Board that is developing ways to bring "Art" to a new generation in our area.
We are partnering with the Live Oak Elementary Schools to create an after school program that will help young people with their homework, along with an instructional hour for Math and Reading. We want out kids to have a firm foundation to build on and become successful students and to be able to make the right choices to develop their dreams.
